Instagram Limits Twitter Integration Amidst Competition

Have no doubt that Facebook is ready to play hardball to protect it’s Instagram investment.  Hoping to drive increased traffic to Instagram’s website, it recently disabled people’s ability to view its photos directly on Twitter.  FB’s new site governance proposal also paves the way for leveraging Facebook data to target ads on Instagram.  While privacy advocates are sure to disapprove, it’s arguably a smart business decision that will give advertisers a new channel to connect with users.

BIA/Kelsey Predicts Boom In Native Ads

A new release from BIA/Kelsey predicts “native” ad spend on social media sites to increase from 1.53 billion this year to 3.85 billion in 2016. For some reference, these native formats treat ads as any other piece of content, like a promoted tweet in your newsfeed. While we’ve seen much debate over their effectiveness, expect social ads to grow on platforms like Facebook, Tumblr, Foursquare and maybe new entrants like Tout and Pinterest.
